Getting Headshots or Branding

These photos are straight out of the gallery I received by Alaina and I am in LOVE! I feel like I look like a new person. She helped me pick out a new studio, that’s not overly used. And I wanted big windows with natural light. It was achieved. And I’m proud to say I will be using this studio in the future.

Getting headshots and branding sessions don’t have to be scary using a new photographer. Each photographer carefully creates their packages, as well as sessions, to make sure that the session is right for you. I do offer headshots and branding sessions. However, I don’t have a space on my website for them. They are something that I get asked to do but not enough to create a separate page for them on my website. Just like any session that you don’t see on there. If you see something that isn’t on there, don’t be afraid to ask and I always have pricing. However, getting headshots and branding photos done is something a little bit different compared to the regular session.

Headshots are typically a shorter session done in a studio or outside, that’s up to you. It is much shorter just because it typically is one outfit and we do a couple poses. Headshots can be multiple outfits, but still there are only a few poses that make it look professional. Branding photos are much different. They are something that can be a little bit more creative, use more outfits, and even use more locations. Branding photos are just show who you are not just a professional photo. We can be professional in these photos however we can also be creative and even show you how you are in the profession you want to work in. And most importantly show your personality.

My branding photos are obviously pictures with my camera. I dressed nice and casual to show the two different sides of who I am. Technically, I show up to photo shoots in a T-shirt and shorts just because I look like this so you can look amazing. I also dressed nice because I wanted to show what I look like in the wedding industry. With my typical headshot, I kind of felt like I looked like a child and that’s just not something I want to give off when I’m meeting a new client. Alaina did both of my headshot photo shoots and I love them both.

Why I have someone else do my photos.

Ava, you’re a photographer. Why do you have someone take your photos when you can take your own?

Well, there’s a few reasons why I have another photographer to take my photos instead of me taking my own. For one I actually don’t like editing myself. I’ve tried and I always try to find some thing that doesn’t look right. And that can always be a challenge when you look at yourself over and over and over again and the photos never turn out how you want them to. However, when I have someone else do them I cannot pick at the little things and just see the finished product.

I also have someone else take my photos because I’m supporting others that have the same dream as mine. When we support local entrepreneurs we’re supporting local dreams. I for one of my photographer, community and love supporting them all the time. I also have other photographers take yearly couple photos of me and my boyfriend. It really just boost our community and shows that we’re here to support each other and not see each other’s competition.

I also make friends when I have them take my photos. They see me behind the camera in front of the camera and really creates a bond so we can understand what it’s like to be in front of the camera as well as behind. I now understand what it feels like to be behind the camera with a new photographer, and truly understand how nerve-racking it can be. I also could not make up my mind on what I wanted to wear.

If I took my own head shots, they would not have looked as good as Alainas. She can put me in poses that I cannot see myself in without a mirror, she can point out the little things that I wouldn’t see until after the photo is taken, and she is now my friend. I truly appreciate everybody that is in the photographer community and I will support others like myself.
